Don Schumacher, drag racing’s most formidable and lasting legend, and the current owner of eight National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Racing Teams, is the CEO of Schumacher Electric. He approaches running his business with the same fervent outlook he possesses while dominating the racing world. "When I was racing, I depended on the best team and equipment to make me a champion. Today, I run my company the same way. I insist on a top-notch team, the highest quality and the latest technology in every product we make. I never settle for anything less than the best, and neither should you."
Don’s son, Tony Schumacher, is a four-time NHRA World Champion and reigns today as the sport’s biggest superstar. Together, Don and Tony have shattered numerous speed and endurance records on the track while amassing a most impressive list of wins. production line is vigorously tested (a total of nine times) before being sent to our customers. Furthermore, each of our high-frequency, electronic Speed Charge battery chargers goes through a Burn-In Process to detect component failures and other latent defects before the product is delivered to a customer. Products that do not pass our tests do not leave our facility—it’s as simple as that. We ensure that every product which leaves our facilities and lands in your customer’s hands has been comprehensively inspected, tested, and is ready for immediate use.
We operate manufacturing facilities in Matamoros, Mexico and Wujiang, China - both of which we fully own and manage. By having our finger on the pulse at the manufacturing level, we are able to control every detail that goes into the products we produce, therefore assuring complete quality.
Our engineers ensure that each of our products proudly uphold the stringent standards of Underwriter’s Laboratory and the FCC.
With an eye toward the environment and a creating a more eco-friendly manufacturing process, every product we produce will be RoHS Compliant (lead-free) by the end of 2007. By eliminating lead from our products, we dramatically reduce the risk of lead poisoning from those who may have internal exposure to discarded products. Also, the presence of lead in our nation’s landfills has damaged our soils and contaminated our ground-water for far too long. By eliminating lead from our products, we are doing our small part to help the environment, and the world, become a cleaner, healthier, and safer place to live.
We are constantly adapting to the modern-market trends; such as powering higher-voltage systems, and producing chargers for new battery types. We continue to keep our ears, eyes and minds on the street and actively listen to what our customers are asking for. To ensure that we continue to grow at the “speed of business,” in August 2006, Schumacher Electric acquired the battery charger division of Midtronics, a well-respected name and strong force in electronics and charger industry. With a history of advanced battery-related research, Midtronics' patented technologies have been tailored for a variety of applications, including transportation (automotive, heavy-duty trucking, off-road vehicles), stationary and motive power, as well as military use. With the acquisition comes not only a deeper, more complete product line - but the endorsement of NASCAR - whose Official battery chargers will now be manufactured by our DSR Professional Products Division. The acquisition of such quality products will position our company as a more wide-ranging and dynamic leader in the various industries we serve.
